How to attach the backing with the flying line?

 

So once you have your brand new reel, fly line, fishing leader and some backing, so now if you have knowledge then you can spool all of it up. So fishing line starts with attaching the backing to the reel. To do this there is an easiest way to do with ‘The Arbour Knot’. It can be started off by removing the spool off the reel and then simply place it on the plain surface. Then take end of your backing and wrap it around your spool of your reel two to four times.

Now it very important to form a knot before you go for the deep sea fishing trip. So in order to do the ‘The Arbour Knot’ one has to wrap around the reel two full turns. Then the end of the backing is taken and the over hand knot is made, but this should done around the big end of the backing. This way one can make the over hand knot with the main line passing through. Now take the little and pass it through for the second time and have double over hand knot. Before one secures all this knot one should take the small end of the backing and tie another double over hand knot. Now make a cut near this double hand knot and the objective of this is to avoid slip.

Now pull the line so it may get tightened on the spool and pull the string against the pool back and forth only three or four times so the line may get snug on the spool. Now this all effort results into the backing completely attached to the reel through The Arbour Knot.

Now the reel can be spooled up and it is the time to attach the fly line to the backing. When you unpack your box with the fly line in it the first thing you should do removing the tags and this all is done to get the end of the line that has tag on it that says that this end should be attached to the reel. The flight lines now come with the loop to loop connection and welded loop on the back end. But you do not want it you can simply cut the loop. To join the backing to the fly line one should use the nail knot, so take piece of tippet in a formal loop and take masking tape. Then just tape the two ends tippet now we have the loop of monofilament to deal with. Here you can use piece of wire or a nail as per your choice to use it as stiffener. So now we have our flying line, backing, stiffener and the monofilament loop that was made. Now hold your fly line then take a stiffener and place it against the flyline and then take a loop and place them all together. This is the time where you can tie nail knot with backing.
